At last the truth is out: yes, there’s a knack to travel and no, lots of us don’t have it! Finally, it’s cool (or hot?) to admit you are hopeless at travel! In spite of all the research we do checking web sites and travel guides, the hopeless traveller will invariably get it wrong. Now it’s OK to say so… You don’t have to pretend – if your ‘good to be home’ is really heartfelt, we know how you feel – and this site is designed to make you feel better!
Our first stop on the road to making travel more enjoyable for the hopeless traveller is hotel rooms. So, if you’ve ever opened the door of a hotel room or holiday villa in eager anticipation of comfortable beds, supportive pillows, soft towels and a quiet restful stay, only to find ….. none of the above: ‘goodtobehome’ is the site for you.
If you’ve ever moved hotel furniture around because the power points for a hairdryer are nowhere near a mirror; if you’ve ever piled blankets under the sheets or cushions under pillows to reduce the impact of a rock-hard mattress and limp flat pillows; if you’ve ever cursed hotel designers who never put mirrors near to natural light for make-up; and if you’re coming to think that hotels increasingly put style and cost considerations ahead of our comfort and enjoyment, you are not alone!
With so many guide books, travel programmes, magazines and internet forums giving us unprecedented opportunities to research the hotels of our dreams (and within budget, of course), you’d think it was impossible to get it wrong. But if, like many of us, you always seem to find the one hotel where you never get a decent night’s sleep or enjoy a comfortable stay, help us tell the hotels and travel groups what we, the customers, really really want in our hotel rooms! Help us tell them what is really important so that each day we come back to our hotel room, we say ‘good to be home’ ….instead of waiting till we DO get home.
Click here to record the three things YOU look for in hotel or travel accommodation and, if you’ve ever found that perfect combination, tell us where and when you found it! When we’ve gathered enough evidence of what people really really want, we’ll be asking hotel groups for their responses and we’ll report back through this site. Once we’ve tackled hotels, watch out for new surveys on all aspects of travel, and in the meantime feel free to give your input and experiences on any other aspect of the travelling experience.
